Room layout ~

Your desk is situated perfectly with the bathroom behind it.  I would leave the cosy seated areas where they are.  You should remove the fireplace from underneath the TV but leave the TV where it is.  I would relocate the fireplace to the wall under Josh’s framed paintings and then move the sideboard table (with frames on it) to that empty space to the left of your desk.  Your metal standing lamps are lovely, despite the fact that they don’t offer much reading light.  I would relocate these to stand either side of the sideboard table, once it has been moved to its new place.

Furniture ~

Being cognizant of the fact that you would not like to change your furniture, the sideboard table (housing the photo frames), despite being a beautiful piece, is dark against the dark walls and the dark frames hanging above it and needs balancing out.  Hence the reason I suggest you move it to left side of your desk.  Otherwise the rest of your pieces are lovely.  A tall stand-alone bookshelf is not necessary.  It will just add more heaviness and clutter.  If you would like some shelving, go for a floated shelf like in the photo below, adding a more rustic charm.  This could perhaps be floated below the TV and house some antique books that you and I both love!  Or float it above the fire place (once it has been moved to the other wall).
